Join Teams work meetings from Microsoft Teams (free) and vice versa

Microsoft Teams (Free) users can currently join Teams for work (or school) meetings only as guests, which requires them to use a browser and results in a sub-optimal experience. The new feature rolling out will allow these users to join Teams for work (or school) meetings in one click, without being redirected to the browser or asked to fill in their name/surname. They will also be able to continue collaborating with the meeting organizer and other participants via meeting chat after the meeting.  The feature will work in the opposite way as well, so Teams for work (or school) will just as easily be able to join meetings hosted by a Teams Free user with one click. Announcements in Viva Connections and Viva Topics for Viva Engage (Yammer) coming soon.

Announcements in Viva Connection is a new Viva feature coming to organizations this fall. According to MC663637 in the message center, the feature should be starting to roll out some time during August and will be generally available by the end of September. With this feature organizations can create and share time-sensitive information. This is a great way to get important information out to the employees. Use this documentation on Microsoft Learn as guidance.

Viva Topics has been available for a range of Microsoft 365 apps, but not for Viva Engage (Previously Yammer) users. This is about to change. The rollout started earlier this year, and will continue for a couple of months. The latest post in the message center suggest the feature should be generally available by the end of October.
