Microsoft 365 E7 was released on May 1, 2026, introducing a new top-tier enterprise bundle designed to bring AI, security, and governance together in a single platform. By combining Microsoft 365 Copilot, the Entra Suite, and Agent 365 with the existing E5 foundation, Microsoft is clearly moving toward a more integrated model for operating AI at scale across the organization.
With that as the backdrop, here are a couple of related changes that also went live on the same date, both pointing toward a more unified and simplified way of managing agents across Microsoft 365.
Agent 365 becomes the unified platform for agent management
Microsoft Agent 365 is now generally available, establishing a single platform for managing and governing agents across Microsoft 365. It provides a centralized layer for visibility, policy enforcement, and control, allowing organizations to manage agents in a consistent and structured way across the environment.
This marks a shift from early experimentation to a production-ready service, where agent management is treated as a core operational capability rather than an add-on. By consolidating visibility and governance into one platform, organizations gain a clearer overview of how agents are used, what they have access to, and how they interact with data and services across the tenant.
For organizations, this simplifies both adoption and governance. Instead of relying on separate tools and experiences, Agent 365 provides a consistent control plane that aligns with existing identity, security, and compliance models in Microsoft 365.
There are no configuration changes required as part of this transition. However, organizations preparing for adoption should review the official onboarding and deployment guidance available in Microsoft Learn at https://learn.microsoft.com/microsoft-agent-365.
Retirement of legacy agent management experiences in Entra admin center
The legacy agent management experiences in the Microsoft Entra admin center have now been retired as of May 1, 2026. This change is part of the consolidation into Agent 365, which now acts as the single source of truth for agent discovery, visibility, and management across the tenant.
Administrators who previously relied on the Agent registry and Agent collections blades in the Entra admin center must now use the “All agents” view in the Microsoft 365 admin center for inventory and management. While the management experience has moved, Microsoft Entra continues to provide the identity foundation for agents through Agent ID, maintaining consistency in identity and access handling.
There is an important change for developers and administrators working with the existing agent registry Microsoft Graph API I should mention. The previous API will be retired and replaced by a new Agent 365-powered API. Agents that were registered using the existing interface will need to be re-registered once the new API becomes available. Organizations should review the official documentation covering this transition at https://learn.microsoft.com/entra/agent-id/identity-platform/agent-registry-convergence and https://learn.microsoft.com/graph/api/resources/agentregistry?view=graph-rest-beta to prepare for upcoming changes.
