New Copilot integrations across pages, Outlook, and Excel coming our way

Here are a few recent updates across Microsoft 365 Copilot that focus on removing friction between drafting, collaboration, and delivery. Whether you are publishing content, working in shared inboxes, or turning notes into structured data, these changes aim to make the transition from idea to output much more seamless.

Seamless handoff from Copilot Pages to SharePoint news

This update introduces a direct path from Copilot Pages into SharePoint News, making it easier to move from draft content to published communication. Users will see a new SharePoint option under the Create button in Copilot Pages. Selecting it opens the existing content in the SharePoint News editor, where it can be refined and published. The feature is enabled by default and respects existing SharePoint permissions, policies, and governance controls. Existing publishing workflows remain unchanged.

There are no required configuration steps. However, it may be worth reviewing SharePoint News permissions and governance to ensure they align with how Copilot-generated content will be used, and to update any internal guidance that references authoring workflows.
General availability will begin rolling out in late May 2026 and is expected to complete by mid-June 2026.

As always, timelines may change, so monitor roadmap ID 557566 for the latest updates.

Copilot in Outlook expands to shared and delegated mailboxes

Users with Microsoft 365 Copilot can now (or soon) access Copilot Chat, Summarize, and Draft features while working directly within a shared or delegated mailbox. Prompts behave as if the mailbox were their own, with responses grounded in the active mailbox. The feature supports both full-access and folder-level permissions. Copilot conversation history remains tied to the user’s primary account and is not shared with other users of the mailbox.

No configuration is required to enable the feature. Organizations may still want to review mailbox and folder permissions, and ensure users understand that Copilot interactions are stored in their personal context.

Targeted Release rollout started in early April 2026 and completed by early May 2026. General availability began in early May 2026 and is expected to complete by early June 2026.
This update is associated with MC1246031 from the admin message center and Roadmap ID 554936.

Use Copilot Notebooks to generate Excel spreadsheets

Copilot Notebooks will soon include the ability to generate Excel spreadsheets directly from notebook content, reducing the effort required to move from notes to structured data. Copilot can use the content and references in a notebook to create a structured spreadsheet, which opens in Excel and can be edited like any other file. The feature is enabled by default for users with access to Copilot Notebooks and requires a Microsoft 365 Copilot (Premium) license. Existing Microsoft 365 security and compliance controls are maintained.

The feature will be enabled by default. To learn more about the notebook features, take a look at the official documentation.

The feature has been in public preview via the Frontier program since late March 2026 through late April 2026. General availability is expected to begin and complete in late May 2026

As with all upcoming features, timelines may change, so keep an eye on roadmap ID 559480.
