In my first summer roundup post, I highlighted a handful of Microsoft 365 and Copilot updates that were announced while many of us were enjoying some well-deserved time away from our desks. As it turns out, there was plenty more to talk about.
This second installment focuses on several new capabilities coming to Microsoft Teams and Copilot Notebooks. From AI-generated meeting recaps that don't require transcripts, to proactive assistance during meetings and new ways to capture and organize information, Microsoft continues to expand how Copilot can support users before, during, and after their workday.
Teams Facilitator will soon answer unanswered questions during meetings
Microsoft Teams Facilitator is getting a new capability that can proactively identify knowledge gaps during meetings and respond with relevant information in the meeting chat. When participants ask factual questions or express uncertainty and no one responds, Facilitator can perform a web search and post an answer directly in the chat, helping conversations stay focused without interrupting the flow of the meeting. The feature is available in standard Teams meetings where Facilitator has been added by a user with a Microsoft 365 Copilot (Premium) license, and users can stop the behavior at any time by removing Facilitator from the meeting.
Rollout is expected to begin for Targeted Release customers in early September 2026 and reach General Availability between late September and mid-October 2026. This update is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 558341. As always, Microsoft timelines may change.

Teams meetings can get AI-generated recaps without transcripts or recordings
Microsoft Teams will soon support Recap without saving transcript, allowing Microsoft 365 Copilot (Premium) users to generate AI-powered meeting summaries without enabling meeting transcription or recording. The feature is designed for organizations that want access to AI-generated recaps while limiting or prohibiting the storage of transcripts and recordings. When enabled, Intelligent Recap can generate a post-meeting summary based on the live meeting context, and the recap can be viewed after the meeting by licensed users. Meeting organizers can enable or disable the feature before or during a meeting, while tenant administrators can manage availability through existing AI controls.
Although transcripts and recordings are not saved, the AI-generated recap itself is stored in the meeting organizer's OneDrive for a default period of 120 days. Organizers can delete the recap from the Recap page, which also removes the stored file from OneDrive, and vice versa. If AI features are disabled at the tenant level, the experience will not be available.

Copilot Notebooks gains multimodal capture on Windows
Microsoft is introducing multimodal capture in Copilot Notebooks on Windows, enabling Microsoft 365 Copilot licensed users to capture audio, images, and notes in a single experience and use Copilot to generate structured insights such as summaries, decisions, and action items. Designed to help users turn meetings, conversations, and offline work into actionable outputs, the feature can be started manually from the OneNote system tray icon or suggested when supported browser-based meetings such as Zoom, Webex, and Google Meet are detected. Captured content is saved to the selected notebook and remains available across devices, while Copilot automatically creates a structured Copilot Page based on the collected content. The feature is enabled by default for eligible users, although administrators can disable it through policy settings if required.

Copilot Notebooks will recommend relevant content and documents
Copilot Notebooks will soon be able to proactively recommend relevant artifacts based on the content of a notebook and a user's Microsoft 365 context. The goal is to help users move work forward more quickly by reducing the need to repeatedly provide the same background information when creating new content. Recommended artifacts can include Word documents, Excel workbooks, and PowerPoint presentations, with Microsoft planning to add support for additional content types such as PDFs and Pages in a future release. The recommendations are generated using notebook references, pages, and existing Microsoft 365 context, and are available by default for eligible users with access to Copilot Notebooks.
Public Preview began rolling out in July 2026 and is expected to complete by late August 2026. General Availability is expected to begin in late August 2026 and complete by late September 2026.
